The Department of Physics successfully organized a special lecture on “Strategic Research and Development in Nation Building: An Overview of Defence R&D” on May 16, 2025, from 11.00 AM to 12.30 PM in the DC auditorium. The program was honored by the presence of Dr. K. Kadhirvelu, Scientist ‘G’ and Associate Director, DEBEL-DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, and DRDO – Coordinator, DRDO Industry Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA CoE), Bharathiar University Campus, Coimbatore – 641046, as the special guest. The program was created the awareness among students and academic staff regarding the contributions of scientific research to national security and technological advancement, particularly in the defense sector. In addition, students were deeply motivated by the possibilities of contributing to strategic sectors through scientific research. The session sparked interest in internships, projects, and careers in DRDO and similar organizations. The lecture effectively highlighted how academia can partner with national institutions for meaningful research with direct societal and strategic impact.
